Occupational Health and Safety

Electricity we use in our houses, workplaces and industry appears as a concept that closely concerns us. In addition to the advantages that electricity provides and adds to our lives, its dangers should also be considered and it should not be forgotten that the smallest mistake related to electricity will have vital consequences. All measures should be taken carefully in all electrical works. As for what these measures should be; first of all, it should not be forgotten that the current must be cut off and the operation must be started afterwards in all works related to electricity. Distribution tables and fuses must be in a closed environment. The floors of all panels in the workshop should be covered with a nonconducting insulation material. In electrical failures occurring at workplaces, an employee/employees responsible for electrical works must intervene in the breakdown.

All electric operated machines and benches in the workplaces must have safety body grounding. Grounding should be enabled separately from each machine apart from the panel grounding and provided with grounding rods appropriately. Grounding must be controlled by an authorized electrician every year. These controls are of great importance in terms of providing a safe work environment.

In the Occupational Health and Safety Regulation, every issue related to electricity is explained in detail. It is necessary to see and examine the relevant articles in the regulation, to refresh our knowledge, and to obtain information by scanning all the literature on this subject. Further information on the subject can be obtained from the sources in this area. However, one of the most important issues to be considered is informing the employees, as in every other subject. It is known that most of the occupational accidents are caused by ignorance. Employers are also responsible for informing the employees.
